After the success of the Indonesian Studies Days in 2024 and 2025, the third edition of the event is coming up on 15 January 2026. This time it will focus on sustainability. Co-organised by Claudia Derichs, it forms part of De:link//Re:link’s current research on Southeast Asia.
One of the main events of the day will be students’ multimedia presentations on their September 2025 excursion to Indonesia. The second part will look in-depth at sustainability and the use of geothermal energy in Indonesia. Two international experts will deliver introductory talks on the topic, followed by the screening of the film Barang Panas, which gives voice to Indonesians affected by geothermal energy use – and whose stories are not all about its positive impact. Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy dance and song performances as well as some traditional Indonesian snacks.
