Vita
Dr Murad Ali is Head of the Department of Political Science at the University of Malakand, Pakistan. Prior to this, he completed his MS and PhD at Massey University (New Zealand) in 2012. In 2014, Dr Murad won a research grant under the Pakistan Strategy Support Programme (PSSP) funded by USAID. In 2016, he was awarded an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship and remained affiliated with the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) at Bonn as postdoctoral research fellow for two years. He has won several research grants from reputed national and international organisations.
Dr Murad’s main research interests are political economy of foreign aid, US-Pakistan relations, and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)/China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its geostrategic, security and development implications. He contributes regular columns to the op-ed pages of one of Pakistan’s leading English newspapers, The News International.
