How do researchers choose their themes? Are there particular personal motivations behind their work? What thrilling interactions and thorny challenges do they experience on the ground?
Our new podcast Exchanges explores our researchers’ backgrounds in a series of short, informal conversations. In the third episode – this time recorded in the heart of Berlin rather than inside the studio -, Daniel Kossmann, from the Institute of African Studies (IAS) at the University of Bayreuth, talks about riding the bus in Dar es Salaam, the ups and downs of pursuing a PhD, and what conceptual art has to do with academia.
